Hey Hollywood, Enough With the Superhero Remakes, OK?

There’s no originality in Hollywood anymore.  Maybe there never was.  But now its just getting ridiculous.  Just how many superheroes can one planet harbor?

I enjoyed the first few superhero movies that came out, such as Superman, Batman, Spiderman.  Even a couple of sequels.  They were in some sense original, as in original remakes of comic book superheroes.  But that was eons ago.

I can no longer bring myself to go see a superhero movie.  Not necessarily because they’re bad movies.  Ironman, for example, was a great movie.  But there have been so many of these movies made that the whole atmosphere for me has been jaded.  The cheesy nostalgia that these movies thrive on just cheapens the whole idea for me.

I look at the poster for Deadpool and I think to myself “Wow, that looks really cool!”  Now the thing is, I’ve never heard of this Deadpool guy before, so for me personally this would be an original movie.  The whole concept of this character sounds right down my alley.  But because I know it is a comic book remake, the accompanying feeling of yet another cheesy remake spoils it for me.  And that’s too bad.

Hollywood, please be more original.  I know that all you care about is money, and so I promise to give you my money if you are more original.

DRAGONE out.

  1. I agree, although I am intrigued by the less than wholesome smart-ass aspect
