Thank you, Jean, from Mixtapes & Cupcakes, for nominating me for this award. This is a really well written site about family and other random topics that’s always a fun read.
Here are the rules for this award:
- Thank the person who nominated you and give a link to their blog.
- Display the award on your post and write about it.
- Give a brief history on your blog itself.
- Offer a piece of advice to new and upcoming bloggers.
- Select 10 other bloggers you wish to nominate.
It’s against my inane nature to follow rules, but I’ll be nice and play along. But just so you know, I’m not counting how many bloggers I’m nominating. It might be more than 10, we’ll see when I get to that point.
My Blog: DRAGONE files
I started blogging a very short time ago, January 1st of this year. I was not aware of what most people blogged about, and so I didn’t realize that my blog would be unusual in that it’s not a very personal account of me, my family, or my life. I’m always running comedy scenarios in my head, and I love parodies and satire, so I began by modeling my blog after a talk show parody (like the Colbert Report for example). I wanted to be a character that we could all laugh at, and occasionally laugh with. You’ll have to ask my therapists why that is what I’m instinctively drawn to doing 🙂 My wife thinks that DRAGONE actually is me, so there ya go.
Really? I’m supposed to give advice to new bloggers? But I am a new blogger. I need advice!
Well, the only thing I can say is that I’ve been doing what makes me happy. Sometimes I post blogs that I think will not be well received, but that I laughed at while writing. It’s those blogs that I don’t expect to be popular which do end up being the most popular (not that I’m that popular at all, but in comparison with those blogs which I have higher expectations for). What I’m trying to say is just write about whatever you feel you have to, and don’t think too much about any audience that you may or may not develop.
I’m Mr. Scatterbrains, so if I’ve liked your blogs in the past, or if we’ve communicated through comments, and you don’t see your blog here it’s not because I don’t like your blog. Obviously I do like your blog, otherwise I wouldn’t have taken the time to read and comment on your posts. I’m just absent minded so don’t sit there and hate me, send me a note and I promise to follow up with a shout out to you.
